Still, She Thrives is a support group for mothers that provides an opportunity to explore unique challenges, gain new insights, and develop coping skills while connecting with other women who share similar experiences.
Our groups consist of a small number of mothers, usually around 6 to 12. Sessions are led by a trained therapist or experienced facilitator who guides discussions including but not limited to coping with mom guilt, balancing work and motherhood, self-care and well-being, ages and stages of development, time management and more. The group meets biweekly. Sessions typically last around 60 to 90 minutes, allowing enough time for each member to participate and share. All sessions are held via Zoom on Thursday at 7:30PM.
What to Expect....
Emotional Support: Motherhood can be overwhelming at times, and our support group offers a safe space for mothers to express their feelings, share their experiences, and receive emotional support from others who understand their challenges. It helps to know that you are not alone and that others are going through similar experiences.
Validation and Understanding: We create an environment where mothers can validate their feelings and experiences. Sharing stories and hearing others' perspectives helps mothers realize that their thoughts, struggles, and joys are normal, reducing feelings of isolation and self-doubt.
Information and Advice: We provide a valuable platform for exchanging information and practical advice on various topics related to motherhood, such as breastfeeding, sleep training, child development, and managing work-life balance. Experienced mothers can offer guidance based on their own experiences, which can be immensely helpful to new or first-time mothers.
Building Connections and Friendships: We enable mothers to connect with other women who are going through similar life stages. These relationships can foster a sense of community, understanding, and friendship. Having a supportive network of fellow mothers can create lasting bonds and a sense of belonging.
Skill Development: Our support groups organize workshops or guest speakers who provide educational sessions on topics relevant to motherhood. These sessions can enhance mothers' skills in parenting, self-care, stress management, and other areas of personal growth.
Coping with Challenges: Motherhood brings its fair share of challenges, and our support group is a valuable resource for coping strategies and problem-solving. Mothers can share tips and techniques for managing specific issues, such as postpartum depression, childcare concerns, or dealing with picky eaters.
Empowerment and Confidence: Through the support and encouragement received in our groups, mothers can gain a sense of empowerment and increased self-confidence. As they witness others overcoming obstacles, they realize their own resilience and capability, boosting their overall well-being.
